MONROE - The City of Monroe Storm Water Utility and Street Department would like to remind residents it is against City Ordinance (11-1-10 B) to deposit refuse or debris (i.e. grass clippings, leaves, dirt, limbs, etc.) into the street.

When it rains the debris is washed into the storm inlets causing back-ups or running into streams. During the fall leaf collection period is the only time leaves are permitted to be placed in the gutter. Place grass in a clear bag and attach a yard waste sticker; it will be picked up on the regular refuse collection day.

Monroe residents only may drop off yard waste free of charge at the Street Department on specific Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon. The dates for drop-off are: May 4, 14 and 25; June 1, 11 and 22; July 6, 16 and 27; Aug. 10, 20 and 31; Sept. 10 and 21; Oct. 5, 15 and 26.
