MONROE - The City of Monroe approved the hiring of Diane Updike, Brown-town, as the new deputy city clerk, effect Jan. 1. Updike has been serving the city as assistant to City Clerk Carol Stamm since May. Updike will continue to assist the city clerk with increased responsibilities in operations of the office.
Updike served in the Green County Courthouse for 23 years, with 10 years in the zoning office and eventually serving as the zoning administrator. Updike began her own soil testing business in 2004.
Updike is a member of Wiota Lutheran Church, where she plays the organ. She has been married to husband Curt for 25 years. The couple enjoys riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycles, have taken many long-distance rides and are members of the Swiss Valley HOG Chapter.
