MONROE - The City of Monroe Storm Water Utility and Street Department reminds residents it is against City Ordinance (11-1-10 B) to deposit refuse or debris (i.e. grass clippings, leaves, dirt, limbs, etc.) into the street.
When it rains, the debris is washed into the storm inlets, causing backups or running into streams. In the fall during leaf collection is the only time leaves are permitted to be placed in the gutter.
Place grass in a clear bag and attach a yard waste sticker; it will be picked up on your regular refuse collection day or bring it to the Street Department for free yard waste dropoff day, beginning Saturday, May 9, from 7 a.m. until noon.
