City collecting yard waste today for free

MONROE - The streets and sanitation department will collect yard waste, such as leaves, grass clippings and garden plants, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the streets and sanitation department, 1064 5th Ave.

Yard waste should be in a clear or blue waterproof bag with a capacity of no more than 33 gallons and weighing 60 pounds or less. Sticks, branches, brush, stalks and other yard waste not easily bagged should be tied in bundles.
