MONROE - The circus is coming to Monroe.
The 2008 Shrine circus could be one of the biggest.
The George Carden Circus International is owned and operated by George Carden, one of the largest producers of circuses in North America. He purchased his father's circus in 1981.
The show features something for everyone.
Some of the featured acts include:
The Dominguez Extreme Riders. Six riders perform in a giant steel globe executing hair-raising maneuvers as they chase each other around at speeds of 60 mph.
The Dragomir Troupe. A group of performers from Romania demonstrate the art of teeterboard.
Aerialists are high in the air as they demonstrate their grace.
Magnificent elephants entertain circus goers, while golden tigers respond gracefully to the visual and verbal cues given to them. The tigers execute leaps and rollovers in the steel cage.
And of course, there are clowns to entertain children of all ages.
There are other activities available fat the circus. There also are concessions.
Proceeds from the circus will benefit the Green County Shrine Club.
The shows are at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Green County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children 12-years-old and younger. Tickets are on sale one hour before show time at the Fairgrounds box office.
