MONROE - The Monroe High School choir is encouraging community members to vote by Monday, Nov. 7 for the choir to win the Glee/Fox TV contest "Glee Give a Note" to earn cash prizes for music programs in need.
MHS is one of 480 schools in the contest; 73 of those schools will receive prize money of $10,000 to $50,000 each.
Those who want to vote can vote once per day at gleegiveanote.com.
The choir had 14 of 200 students who performed in the Badger Conference Honors Choir win. The event was held in Madison on Monday, Oct. 10. Each school in the Badger North and South brought up to 18 students to participate in this event.
There will be 14 choir members heading for New York on Thanksgiving Day to perform in Carnegie Hall under the direction of Maestro John Rutter on Sunday, Nov. 27. The group will be on the "Today" show on Monday, Nov. 28.
The choir is planning a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 in the Performing Arts Center. There will be a free-will donation. Those who have purchased tickets in advance to the Madrigal Celebration will then take a seat in the M-Room and place their tickets on the table in front of them to be picked up prior to eating.
Tickets for the Madrigal event are $10 and will include the show and hors d'oeuvres.
Tickets are available from Madrigal students, or call Judy Bennett at (608) 328-7325 and leave a message.
