Children's Parade to be held Sept. 14

MONROE - The Children's Parade will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 during Green County Cheese Days.

Children of all ages may participate in the parade. All children must be accompanied by an adult or adult supervisor in the parade. No registration is required for individuals walking in the parade.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should meet at the north side (clock tower) of the Monroe Middle School, 13th Street, between 5 and 5:15 p.m.

The parade will start at the corner of Monroe Middle School and Turner Hall. The parade will turn left on 17th Avenue, then turn on to 11th Street and travel past the post office. The parade will then turn left on 18th Avenue and turn left on Wisconsin 11/9th Street. The parade will go past Stop N Go, and then turn left and go around the east side of the Square to end at the middle school.

For this year's parade, children are encouraged to dress up in any one of the following categories: Swiss Costume; Children's Cheese Day T-shirt; costume of their choice; red and black or Mickey and Minnie shirt and walk with Mickey and Minnie; or Walk with Woody and wear western theme or Toy Store clothes. Children can ride their bike or kid-motorized vehicle or bring their Pugs or dogs for Dogs on Parade.

Cheese Day T-shirt to wear in the parade may be purchased Kidz Kloset, Schultz Pharmacy, Heartland Graphics, das Baumhaus and the Cheese Day retail tent. This year's shirts are yellow and say "Where is Wedgie?" The shirts are being sold for $13 for children sizes starting at youth 2 to 4, 6 to 8, 10 to 12 and 14 to 16. For adult small, medium, large and X-large, the cost is $15.
