MONROE — Not guilty pleas were entered for a convicted sex offender in Green County Circuit Court last Thursday, as the 37-year-old defendant faces more sex offense charges that could result in additional prison time.
Bearded and wearing a jail-issue orange jumpsuit, Derrick P. Nipple stood mute with a public defender by his side before circuit Judge Jane Bucher, as he faced felony charges of repeated sexual assault of the same child under 13, exposing genitals/intimate parts to a child, and causing a child to view or listen to a sex act.
Nipple, of rural Belleville, was arrested on May 20 in Darlington in a joint effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies investigating such crimes.
He has previous sex crime convictions in Wisconsin. He was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child in Green County Circuit Court in August 2010 with a no contest plea. Nipple was also previously convicted of a sex offender registry violation to which he pleaded guilty in September 2013.
Due to the previous criminal convictions, Nipple is a lifetime sex offender registrant.
On May 4, about two weeks prior to Nipple’s arrest, the Green County Sheriff’s Office received information on incidents of child sexual assault reported to have taken place in the Village of Albany; and in rural Green County in the Town of Exeter.
He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing set for 2:30 p.m. on July 22.
The defendant remains in county jail on $50,000 bond, according to court records.
