MONROE - Trisha Pernot, Madison, was named the 2010 Cheese Days ambassador, Sunday.
She accepted the crown from 2008 Ambassador Charity Rood during the 43rd Annual Swissfest at Turner Hall.
Pernot is the daughter of Robert and Monika Pernot and the granddaughter of Karl and Kaye Gmur, and Willis and Lennys Luchsinger. She is a 2005 New Glarus High School graduate. She also served as the 2003-04 New Glarus Dairy Queen and was co-chair of the New Glarus Dairy Queen program in 2006.
Pernot said her year as a dairy queen was a life-changing experience. Before she was crowned she never liked to speak in front of crowds and she thought her lack of farming background would hamper her chances to serve as a spokesperson for agriculture.
Pernot is employed at Kindercare Learning Center in Madison.
As Cheese Days Ambassador, Pernot will make appearance in front of many groups to promote the event. She will also make radio and television appearances.
Pernot said she looks forward to meeting people and just enjoying the experience.
Rood said her advice to Pernot is to have fun.
"I told her to just be herself and encourage people to come to Cheese Days," Rood said.
Cheese Days is scheduled for Sept. 17-19.
Cheese Days, which celebrates Green County's Swiss heritage, takes place every two years. The first Cheese Days occurred in 1914, and about 100,000 people attend the event.
