Cheese Days celebration set for Thursday

MONROE - The Friends In Faith Ministry of the Monroe United Methodist Church will be hosting "A Celebration of Cheese Days" at 1 p.m. Thursday in the church's Fellowship Hall, 2227 4th St.

Official Historian Sherry Anderegg will be sharing a history of the event from its beginning in 1914 and up to the present milestone celebration planned for September. A number of memorabilia items, tracing the 100 years of the festival, will be available for viewing.

Reigning Queen Diane Phillips will also be on hand, bringing along some of her fellow 2014 Royalty members. Traditional accordion music will be performed by John Waelti and Bobbie Edler.

Refreshments will follow. The free program is open to the public.
