The combined community theatres of northwestern Illinois, Hanover's Back Street, Freeport's Winneshiek, Orangeville's Mighty Richland Players, and Stockton's Plum River are in rehearsal to bring an original show, "The Cheddar Curtain," to some of our towns.
The show consists of four separate story lines. The first, presented by Mighty Richland Players, is about an empty-nest couple who takes a ten-day winter vacation to Florida with their son and daughter-in-law.
The second, submitted by Winneshiek, portrays an elderly couple who shows up for a wine-tasting at the Chicago Art Museum - on the wrong day.
The third, from Back Street, is a serious look at the founding father of the Hanover, Ill., area, James Craig; and the fourth show, Plum River's submission, is a clever, if less than accurate, portrayal of the battle for Apple River Fort during the Blackhawk War.
The two-hour show is guaranteed to entertain, and will also serve as a fund-raiser for the four theatres.
If you are familiar with what talent we have in the area, you know you will enjoy the show. If you have not seen productions by these local writers, producers, directors, and actors, you're in for a real treat. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m., and all tickets are $15.
