MONROE - Though Anchor Bank has a new owner, customers of the Monroe location should see little change until summer ends.
Old National Bank officially completed its acquisition of Madison-based Anchor BanCorp., or Anchor Bank, on Sunday, taking on Anchor's 46 locations, $1.7 billion in loans and $1.8 million in deposits for $461 million.
Anchor Bank started in Madison in 1919. It's Monroe branch opened in 1971. In 1997, the local office, located at 1712 12th St., was remodeled to add a drive-up lane and night deposit box.
Old National Bank is headquartered in Evansville, Indiana, where the bank began in 1834. It owns businesses throughout the state as well as in Kentucky and Michigan. Old National has 177 locations nationwide with a total of $11.9 billion in assets.
Emily Campbell, Anchor Bank vice president of marketing and communications, said customers will not notice visual change until acquired buildings switch over signage and banking systems in September.
"Right now there aren't any changes that will happen," Campbell said. "Customers will still see all the same signage and use the same systems."
Currently, Campbell said, the only noticeable difference for customers will be a sign indicating that Anchor is now a division of Old National.
In the third quarter of the year, there will be changes to the exterior of each facility, including Anchor Bank in Monroe. Campbell said the bank will change the signs displayed on the building and will start operating on Old National systems, including "some additional products."
But customers should expect to see the same faces even after the switch.
"There's nothing planned with current staff that I'm aware of," Campbell said. "It's really just business as usual right now."
