MONROE - Customers of Amcore Bank in Monroe and Argyle received a letter this week announcing the branches' changeover to First National Bank and Trust Company on Nov. 6.

Current Amcore checking, savings or money market accounts will be converted to a comparable First National Bank account.

Customers received a welcome booklet outlining the products and services offered by First National Bank, as well as answers to some questions about the transition.

Amcore Bank branches in New Glarus and Belleville have been sold to Union Bank and Trust Company of Evansville. Union Bank and Trust Company also owns banks in Evansville, Brooklyn and Oregon.

The changeover is expected to be finalized Nov. 19, said Stephen Eager, senior vice president of Union Bank and Trust Company.

Amcore Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William McManaman said the decision to sell was part of the bank's effort to improve profitability and efficiencies.
