Celebrating Our Past: Green County Historical Society

Photo supplied by the Green County Historical Society
This photo of the Green County Historical Society museum was taken about 1970, only a few years after the congregation of the Unitarian-Universalist Church donated the building and grounds to the City of Monroe, to be used as a museum. The A-1 car lot was located to the west and Don's Standard Service was located to the east. The stained glass windows seen upstairs were installed in 1895 and have had little attention since then. It has become necessary to have them refurbished before they collapse. To further the project, Culver's of Monroe has generously offered to contribute 10 percent of their sales from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday, March 18. If you are able to dine there or pick up your meal and/or custard at the drive through, GCHS would appreciate it. If you have any questions, please contact Matt at mfigi48@tds.net or 608-325-6503.
