The 75th annual Green County Fair was held from Wednesday, July 31 through Saturday, August 3, 1929. It was reported that 350 cars passed East School on 10th Street in half an hour on that Saturday morning. That afternoon the livestock parade and 4-H club review was held in front of a full amphitheater. Betty Hartman, Spring Grove, and Henry Divan, Cadiz, were selected as the healthiest 4-H members. Mrs. Helen Eichstadt Ellingson, 4-H leader, was chosen as the 4-H style champion for the county. Anyone who has photos of the fair, farming, or Monroe that might be of interest to the historical society and wouldnt mind them being copied may contact Matt at mfigi48@tds.net or 325-6503.
