Celebrating Our Past: Green County Historical Society
37716a.jpg
Bobette Trumpy Donny Trauls family brought this photograph to the museum last Sunday. F. W. Weigle, who was a photographer in Monroe from about 1900 to 1906, took this very interesting photo. Five of the six women are wearing flat hats that say, The Salvation Army. The tall man in the back center appears to be wearing a sweater that says the same. The Salvation Army is a Christian denomination and international charitable organization that was formed by William Booth in a quasi-military structure in London. If anyone can identify any of the people in this photo or has any history of the Salvation Army in Monroe, contact Matt Figi at 608-325-6503 or mfigi48@tds.net.
