MONROE - Cara Carper smiles when she says she has the entire University of Wisconsin system behind her.

Carper recently joined Green County UW Extension as the community resource development educator. She can call on experts from the UW system to help her with any questions she might not be able to answer. The system can provide Carper with information and research whenever she needs it.

That will help as she works with people in Green County, Carper said.

Carper has a wealth of knowledge already. She came to Green County from the Lafayette County UW Extension office. While in Lafayette County, she focused on leadership development, economic development, land use and natural resource issues.

In addition to her work in Lafayette County, Caprer previously worked as a regional representative for Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., as a communications and legislative coordinator for the State Engineering Association and as an education specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Carper said she's looking forward to working with people in Green County. She encourages them to come to her office with ideas to help her resolve issues facing the county.

For the near future, Carper's going to work with the Green County Development Corporation and Green County Leaders program.

"If there are organizations that need help or other groups that want advice, they can come here and I'll be more than willing to help," she said.

Carper is familiar with the area; she grew up on a dairy farm in Wiota. She lives in the Argyle school district with her husband, Dave, and children Miles and Anna.

Carper can be reached at 328-9440 or at cara.carper@ces.uwex.edu.
