Position sought: Blanchardville Village President
Age: 36
City/town of residence: Village of Blanchardville
Family: Wife Amy of almost 12 years, Children- Macy (9) and Alexander (7)
Education: Graduate of Pecatonica High School, Class of 1994, some college
Previous elected positions held: I've been on the village board for six years as a village trustee and on several committees.
What are the top issues facing this district and how would you work to resolve it?
1) We have several issues facing the village. Like all small towns and villages, it's a struggle to provide basic services and still be fiscally responsible. Shared revenue is not what it was at one time. As basic services continue to rise along with expenditures, it's harder to budget for these services, without additional burden on the taxpayer. We have a few major projects that need to be addressed. Some being basic infrastructure of roads and sidewalks along with a vacant building on Main Street that continues to be an eyesore.
2) We need to promote our little village to the best of our ability. Somehow we need to make Blanchardville a more attractive place to want to live and want to start a business. There are a lot of wonderful possibilities in our little town within Lafayette and Iowa counties. I think most people visiting here can see the potential of living in our community or starting a small business. We have an excellent school system and a very beautiful park with a large swimming pool. The Pecatonica River is also a great recreational tool that we can use and promote. Our housing is cheaper and we have less taxes vs. other communities and villages.
