During the week of July 5, Rock Road Companies completed concrete pavement removal on 9th Street from 18th Avenue to 20th Avenue. Rock Road also completed the excavation of the subsoil of the street from 18th Avenue to the mid 1900 block of 9th Street. After the subsoil excavation they placed 6î to 12î of breaker run, depending on soil conditions, and an initial layer of the 13 inches of gravel base course. Rock Road Companies worked on pouring the concrete flow-lines in storm sewer structures and adjusting structures to final grade. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, completed the construction of the concrete bridge abutments for the new bridge foundation and set the new bridge in place on Friday morning. Voegeli Landscaping continued with the construction of the retaining walls along 8th Street between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue. They completed 250 feet of retaining wall varying from 4 feet in height to 8 feet in height. Voegeli also continued with the construction of the concrete leveling pads for the installation of the retaining walls along the southeast side of the bike trail.
Next week, Rock Road Companies plans to complete the storm sewer installation with the pouring of the concrete flowlines in all of the structures and adjusting all structures to final grade. Rock Road plans to have the remaining storm sewer installed, the street cut, and initial road base completed by Wednesday in preparation for curb and gutter installation. The curb and gutter contractor, Parisi Construction Co., is scheduled for mid-week to start preparing for curb installation by setting string line for the curb machine. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, will continue with finish work on the concrete bridge abutments. Voegeli Landscaping will continue with retaining wall installation along 8th Street working towards 10th Avenue. The electrical contractor, Westphal and Company Inc., will continue with the installation of the electrical conduit for the street lighting and traffic signals from 13th Avenue to 16th Avenue.
All intersections will remain open for cross traffic the majority of the time, except during the installation of utilities through the intersection. The intersections will be completely barricaded when this is happening. Otherwise the barricades will be offset to allow for cross traffic.
