MONROE - Monroe School District Business Administrator Ron Olson apologized Monday for what he called "a lapse in judgment" when he was arrested for drunken driving Friday.
Olson was arrested following a traffic stop at about 11:45 p.m. Friday on Wisconsin 69 near Pierce Road. He was cited for drunken driving, driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration, driving left of center and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Monroe Superintendent Larry Brown wouldn't comment on Olson's arrest because it is a personnel matter, he said.
It would be up to the school board to determine if any disciplinary action would be taken, Olson said.
Olson said the incident was a "lapse in judgment" on his part and apologized to Brown, the school district and the community.
"I greatly regret that it occurred and don't wish it to reflect poorly on the district," he said. "This is my own personal issue and I have to deal with it."
Olson said he appreciates the support of the district and the community.
"I'm disappointed I let them down," he said.
Olson didn't reveal his blood alcohol level at the time of the arrest. Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick said information couldn't be released until after details of the case have been forwarded to the Green County District Attorney's office.
Roderick said the information from the deputy's report will be sent to the district attorney's office within 10 days.
A court date has not been set.
