JANESVILLE - Blackhawk Technical College is supporting business development in Green County by offering six new workshops at its Monroe Campus. Starting in mid-March these one-day, single-topic workshops will cover a wide range of areas such as customer service, building relationships and dealing with stress.
Led by BTC instructor Lisa Schaffer, the workshops being offered are:
Working with you makes me crazy: creating a drama-free workplace: Offered March 15, this workshop covers how to have difficult conversations to create intentional plans of action. Students will explore conflict resolution styles as well as five languages of appreciation in the workplace to develop a stronger skillset in handling conflict.
Everyone communicates, few connect: Building business relationships - This workshop is offered from 1 to 3 p.m. March 15. Using the John Maxwell Certification Curriculum, this workshop covers building relationships in personal and professional lives, teaching six connecting practices and how to increase the level of leadership from positional power to pinnacle leadership.
Stress management: Claim it/frame it/tame it - Offered from 10 a.m. to noon April 3, this session will explore perceptions and thinking patterns that lead to stress. Students will explore the colors index and techniques in rational emotive behavior therapy, learning how to tame stress to live a happier life.
Motivation and communication: Drive the surprising truth about what motivates us - Intrinsic, internal motivators are far more effective motivators for improving individual and group performance. Offered from 1 to 3 p.m. April 19, this class will allow participants to discuss, debate, problem-solve and actively mind-map their way to a customized, concrete plan that promotes autonomy, mastery and a sense of purpose. This session is an opportunity for leaders to deconstruct Daniel Pink's packaging of the science behind motivation.
What color is your communication? The Real Colors Profile is a temperament and communication tool that helps individuals understand differences in the workplace and home life. Offered from 1 to 3 p.m. May 1, this workshop will give participants the opportunity to learn how to effectively communicate with people based on individual dominate color language. Activities and discussions will show that communication is two-way and will include the importance of timing, delivery, tone and nonverbal communication.
Customer service that shines - Many elements of customer service are missing in today's service-driven businesses. This workshop offered from 10 a.m. to noon May 17 will explore the best practices in today's market to build relationships and keep customers engaged. This workshop teaches the importance of internal and external customers and how perception becomes reality.
