SPRING GROVE TOWNSHIP - An 81-year-old Browntown man was killed and the other driver arrested after a head-on collision south of Brodhead Saturday night, Aug. 10.
Antone C. Grawehr was fatally injured in the crash on Wisconsin 81, according to a news release from Lt. Paul Weichbrod of the Green County Sheriff's Department.
The other driver, 30-year-old Maquita Q.C. Stokes of Rockford, was flown by medical helicopter to a Rockford hospital and later arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
Alcohol and operating left of center appear to have been factors in the crash, Weichbrod said.
The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. between Half Tree Road and County T in Spring Grove Township.
An eastbound Chevy Trailblazer driven by Stokes crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a westbound Dodge Caravan driven by Grawehr. His passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Stokes' two passengers were also transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
This is Green County's fifth traffic fatality of 2013, according to Weichbrod.
