MONROE - A Brodhead man was charged Monday with fourth-offense drunk driving after an incident last week.

Kevin Louis Bobolz, 38, faces a Class H felony count of fourth-offense driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on June 23.

According to a criminal complaint, Brodhead police officers stopped Bobolz in the 2400 block of 1st Center Avenue in Brodhead for having defective taillights. When they approached Bobolz, they found him moving sluggishly, slurring his speech and with bloodshot, glassy eyes.

Although Bobolz claimed he had not been drinking, a breath test found a preliminary blood alcohol content of .11 percent, more than the Wisconsin legal limit of .08 percent. Bobolz was subsequently arrested without incident.

Bobolz was also cited for driving without illuminated taillights and with a suspended license.

Bobolz was previously convicted of drunk driving after incidents in Rock County on Nov. 9, 2003, Dec. 15, 2009, and March 31, 2013.

On Tuesday, Bobolz signed a $2,000 signature bond with conditions that he not possess or consume any intoxicants or drive on any public roadway.

Bobolz's preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place Aug. 15. If convicted, his maximum possible sentence is three years in prison.
