MONROE - A Brodhead man was charged Tuesday with child abuse after he allegedly slapped and kicked a child in the face.
Tyson Vernon Foster, 29, faces a Class I felony charge of child abuse after an incident on May 24 when he allegedly repeatedly struck a child.
According to the child's testimony, Foster kicked him in the face after an altercation where Foster angrily shouted at and berated him.
Foster later said he slapped the child across the face during the altercation, but denied ever kicking the child's face.
The child sustained no severe injuries, but his face was visibly bruised after the incident. The child said he did not feel threatened by Foster's behavior.
According to the police report, Foster tearfully admitted that he struggles with anger management issues. Foster said he had no excuse for his actions.
Foster will have his initial appearance in court July 25.
