MONROE - A Brodhead man was charged Tuesday with third-degree sexual assault after he reportedly had sexual contact with a woman without her consent.
Aaron Michael Martin, 45, faces a Class G felony charge of third-degree sexual assault and misdemeanor charges of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
The charges stem from an incident Saturday, when Martin initiated sexual contact with a woman in a Brodhead residence despite her repeated objections, according to a police report.
After the victim extricated herself from Martin, Martin became angry, shouting at the victim and punching a bedroom door until it broke. The victim left the scene and reported the incident to the police.
Martin initially claimed he never touched the victim but later said the two nearly had consensual sexual contact before she became angry and broke the contact.
Martin's signature bond was set at $5,000 with conditions that he avoid contact with the victim, her residence or her children. He will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 12.
