MONROE — A Brodhead man faces three misdemeanor charges after witnesses told police he pulled a gun on a man at a bar.

Devin Quade Manley, 22, stood mute Sept. 16 in Green County Circuit Court on the charges of intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, carrying a gun where alcohol is sold and disorderly conduct by use of a dangerous weapon. Not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf.

He signed a $2,500 signature bond with conditions prohibiting drinking, entering bars or liquor stores and contact with the alleged victim. He has a pre-trial conference Oct. 22.

The case stems from an incident at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 14 at Payne’s Pub, 1101 1st Center Ave., Brodhead.

According to the criminal complaint:

Several witnesses told police Manley tried to pick a fight with a fellow bar patron about the man’s motorcycle, referring to the vehicle using a racist slur, then continued “eyeballing” the man. Manley then took a gun from his waistband, loaded a round in the gun’s chamber and pointed it at the man.

The victim “appeared extremely shaken and upset due to a gun being pointed at him,” a responding officer noted.

Witnesses told police this is not the first time Manley has pulled a gun while in a bar in Brodhead. One witness also told police Manley “knows that he is not welcomed at Payne’s Pub but chose to go there anyway.”
