MONROE - A 1987 Brodhead High School graduate remains jailed after authorities found the dead body of his former wife, who disappeared Nov. 7 in Jackson County.
Douglas A. Sidie, 39, Hatfield, is expected to be charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his wife, 27-year-old Alisha Sidie. Sidie also could be charged with concealing a corpse and obstructing an officer.
Sidie told authorities last week his wife disappeared Nov. 8 after they argued at their house the night before.
According to television station WEAU, Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera said Sunday that Sidie was held without bail and will be arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court within the next couple of days.
Alisha Sidie's body was discovered at about 8 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area east of the Hatfield area, Waldera said at a news conference Sunday.
An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
Waldera said Doug Sidie eventually told detectives where they could find Alisha's body in the township of Komensky. Her body was found in an area that had not been searched before, however it was close to the area where dozens of officers and hundreds of volunteers searched all week, according to WEAU.
The sheriff wouldn't say how, where or when Alisha Sidie was killed.
According to WEAU, Waldera said a volunteer helping police search for the body found a key piece of evidence last week that helped them solve the case. He didn't elaborate about the evidence.
Waldera said police were called to the Sidie residence in past instances.
According to Wisconsin Circuit Court Access site, Doug Sidie and his wife were divorced in 2007. In 2005, Sidie pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and was fined $248.
The couple have two 2-year-old twin boys.
A classmate of Doug Sidie, who asked that his name not be published, said he was shocked when he heard the news. Sidie was a member of the Brodhead High School wrestling team and also was a member of FFA.
