BRODHEAD - The City of Brodhead Council is requesting input from its residents on fire response fees.
Fire Commissioner Steve Hazeltine spoke to the council on Nov. 17 about adding a fire protection response fee.
A fire protection response fee is a way for the fire district to raise revenue by charging a user fee each time the fire district responds to an emergency call. These fire protection response fees are in addition to taxes already paid by residents for fire protection.
A proposed fee schedule was provided to the council by the fire district. There would be a standard charge of $500 for the first hour. After that, additional fees would be charged.
Fire protection response fees would only apply if you had a fire or emergency response call at your home, business or property.
For more information, contact any member of the city council, the fire district, or the city clerk at 608-897-4018, ext. 150 or email cityclerk@cityofbrodheadwi.us.
