Green County authorities have released the names of the victims of a triple-fatal, head-on crash Saturday night, in which a 12-year-old boy also was seriously injured and remains hospitalized.

The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Wisconsin Highway 11/81 about one mile west of County Trunk OK, in the town of Jefferson.

Sheriff's officials say the initial investigation indicates a car driven by 32-year-old Penny L. Sprauge of Juda, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a car driven by 40-year-old Cynthia L. Spooner of Brodhead.

Both drivers died at the scene. Two passengers from Spooner¹s vehicle, 39-year-old Douglas H. Spooner and 12-year-old Clay Spooner, were helicoptered to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, where the man died. A sheriff's news release says the boy suffered "very serious" injuries. Seat belt use by the passengers is not known at this time.

Members of the Wisconsin State Patrol Crash reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to assist with the investigation, which continues.

The victims of this crash were Green County's first, second and third fatalities in 2011.
