BRODHEAD - A Brodhead man died early this morning after the tractor he was driving hit a parked car and overturned.
Patrick Holland, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred just before 4 a.m. on 14th Street, just west of E. 2nd Avenue.
Brodhead police said Holland's tractor left the roadway and collided with a parked vehicle, causing the tractor to overturn and trap Holland under the tractor.
About 20 gallons of fuel oil leaked from the tractor. Personnel from Green County Emergency Management and state Department of Natural Resources responded. It does not appear that fuel entered the city's sewer system, police said. City workers are expected to spend Thursday afternoon removing and replacing top soil.
The accident remains under investigation.
