Boy, 9, killed in UTV accident

GRATIOT TOWNSHIP - A 9-year-boy was killed in a utility terrain vehicle accident on a farm south of Gratiot Saturday, July 6.

Drew Holland, of 9542 South Prairie Road, was a passenger in the UTV at the time of the accident, according to a news release from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.

Emergency responders were called to the farm on South Prairie Road at 4:44 p.m. Saturday.

Four people were riding in the UTV when they hit a pile of hay in a field, causing the vehicle to overturn. The boy was partially ejected and taken to Monroe Clinic, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting Lafayette County deputies at the scene of the accident were Jo Daviess County deputies, Warren Ambulance, Warren police, Gratiot Fire and First Responders and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
