MONROE - The Monroe Booster Club is hosting its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in the M Room at Monroe High School. The club is seeing new members and encourages parents, alumni and community members interested in supporting athletics in Monroe schools to attend.

The club supports Monroe athletics by raising funds to purchase materials for athletic programs beyond what the school district is able to provide, according to club member Ken Gratz. Recent projects have included a new scoreboard for junior varsity baseball; a new scoreboard at Twining Park for girls softball; an awning tent for track; a high definition endzone camera for the football program; and painting the high school gym. The club's largest project to date has been a new press box at the MHS football field. Projects are determined with input from school coaches.

In addition, the club works to build enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the entire community as a way to support young athletes, Gratz said.

The meeting will include the election of officers, as well as an overview of upcoming fundraising projects. The meeting will also serve as an opportunity for Booster Club members and newcomers to give input on future plans and projects.
