MONROE - Monroe police are investigating a burglary at the Blue Ox restaurant that was reported at about 5:45 a.m. today.
Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said money and merchandise were taken from the restaurant, which is located at 702 Eighth St.
Owner Mike Islami said an employee who came to open the restaurant saw that the building had been burglarized and called him. According to Islami, about $1,000 in cash and about $1,000 in merchandise were taken. He said the glass in the front of the building was broken and the front door was pried open. He said the burglary must have happened between 11:30 p.m. Sunday, when he left the building, and 5:30 a.m.
He said the restaurant would be open for business by 11 a.m. today.
