ARGYLE - A Blanchardville man was severely injured Thursday evening after a single-vehicle crash in the 14000 block of County N, Town of Argyle.

According to a report from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department, the crash was discovered at 7:59 p.m. when a deputy on patrol found the crashed vehicle in a field. The driver, Michael E. Berg, 59, was found inside the vehicle, unresponsive.

Berg was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital with life-threatening injuries before being transferred to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Med Flight helicopters were unable to respond to the scene due to weather conditions.

Hospital representatives had no report on Berg's condition Friday afternoon.

Preliminary investigation determined that Berg failed to negotiate a curve on County N, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway, drive into a ditch, strike an embankment and stop in the field.

The incident remains under investigation.
