Blackhawk to host Exploration Days

JANESVILLE - A Manufacturing Showcase at Blackhawk Technical College's Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Milton highlights BTC's week-long Tech Exploration Days events, which provide prospective students with a detailed view of the school's variety of academic programs.

The Manufacturing Showcase will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 at BTC's new facility, which now houses its Advanced Manufacturing programs.

At 9:30 and 11 a.m., high school juniors and seniors and their parents, as well as prospective nontraditional age students will be able to participate in hands-on demonstrations in a number of program labs with BTC instructors. A BTC admissions information session will be held at 10 a.m.

Breakfast snacks and a pizza lunch also will be served. Tours of the building at 15 Plumb St. will be available after lunch.

Tech Exploration Days (TED) begin Oct. 14, at BTC's Central Campus with sessions in Public Safety (Fire Protection and Criminal Justice) and Electric Power Distribution. Both begin at 8:45 a.m.

The Beloit Center (50 Eclipse Center) and the Center for Transportation Studies (1740 Hwy. 14) play host to sessions on Oct. 15. Students interested in Early Childhood Education, Pharmacy Technician and Nursing report to the Beloit Center at 10 a.m. Those interested in Auto, Diesel and Electrician Apprenticeship should be at CTS at 8:45.

BTC's Health Sciences program - Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiography, Physical Therapy Assistant and Medical Assistant - will be in the spotlight Oct. 20, at the Central Campus from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The Business and Information Technology programs will close out TED on Oct. 21 from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. Accounting, IT Web, Human Resources and Business Management will be explored.
