Blackhawk to host College Preview Day

JANESVILLE - High school students and adults who are interested in the wide array of programs Blackhawk Technical College offers are encouraged to explore information programs being offered by BTC.

These sessions will open Feb. 13 with BTC's College Preview Day and run through Feb. 24 with eight different Tech Exploration Days that feature hands-on experiences for students in BTC program offerings.

College Preview Day offers prospective students an opportunity to peruse a variety of the BTC program offerings while receiving detailed information from BTC staff about the admission and financial aid process. Members of the BTC faculty also will be present to discuss the fields of study they represent. Those in attendance also can receive guided tours of the BTC Central Campus. Attendees are welcome any time between 9 and 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served. BTC's Central Campus is located at 6004 County G in Janesville.

Tech Exploration Days programs will be featured at four BTC campuses starting Feb. 16 at the Center for Transportation Studies at 1740 Wisconsin 14 in Janesville, where interested high school juniors, seniors and adults may explore the auto and diesel tech program from 8:45 to 11:15 a.m.

On Feb. 17 and 18, Tech Exploration Days move to the Central Campus where public safety, health sciences and electric power distribution (on Feb. 18) are featured in morning sessions.

On Feb. 20, Tech Exploration Days will feature for the second time a manufacturing showcase at BTC's advanced manufacturing training center at 15 Plumb St. in Milton. Students may explore one of six program areas at the state-of-the-art facility for the event that runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served at the showcase. Shuttle service also is available from the Beloit Center at 50 Eclipse Center and Central Campus.

Tech Exploration Days conclude Feb. 24 with emphasis on nursing (Central Campus) and early childhood education (Beloit Center) in the morning and business and information technology (Central Campus) in the afternoon.

Tech Exploration Days introduce prospective students to the hands-on education Blackhawk students receive on a daily basis. Instructors provide program and classroom details in their respective fields, ranging from entrance requirements to expected course loads. Instructors also demonstrate equipment and highlight prospective employment opportunities in their areas of concentration.
