Heather Siedschlag, a staff bookkeeper for the Monroe school district, talks about her best friends, 3-year-old black-and-tan dachshund Yoda and 10-year-old tan dachshund Oscar.

Siedschlag and her family bought Yoda from a pet store in Milwaukee in January 2013 and then adopted Oscar from the Green County Humane Society in March of this year.

Siedschlag had seen Oscar on the humane society's website and thought he would make a good friend for Yoda.

"He adopted us," She said. "We went to meet him and right away he laid over on his back and wanted a tummy scratch and I was like, 'OK, he's ours.'"

Describe Yoda and Oscar's personalities.

Yoda is the wild one. He's a little bit rougher than Oscar. We call him our watch dog. He'll sit and watch out the window all day.

Oscar is a calm, laid-back little guy. He goes with the flow. He wants to be around people and loves to go for rides. He thinks he needs a ride every day. He also likes playing fetch.

What do you like to do together?

They like to go for rides. They like looking at the countryside. I have inlaws that live over by Browntown, and they like to visit them and check stuff out by the woods. We also like to cuddle.

What has it been like having Yoda and Oscar in your life?

They've been a joy to have in my life. They make me happy. They're always my welcome-home greeting and are always sitting by the door waiting for me to get home.
