TOWN OF BROOKLYN - A Belleville man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle hit an electrical pole Friday and he became disorderly with EMS and hospital staff.

Alex J. Hardy, 32, was westbound in the W1600 block of County C when he lost control of his vehicle and went into the right shoulder hitting an electrical pole, snapping the pole and causing downed wires to start a tree on fire.

When deputies arrived and attempted to give him a field sobriety test, Hardy fell and hit his head. He was arrested for DWI, armed while intoxicated and transporting a loaded firearm. He was transported via Albany EMS and while en route to the hospital, he became disorderly with EMS staff and incurred a disorderly conduct charge. At Monroe Clinic Hospital, Hardy received three more charges of disorderly conduct after he hassled staff.

Green County Chief Deputy Tom Moccynski said the detailed report was awaiting review and there were few details he could release about the incident.

"Evidently he was fairly uncooperative," Moccynski said.

Hardy was jailed for the four counts of disorderly conduct, posted bond and was released to a responsible party pending court. Hardy was uninjured in the crash and the vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Albany Fire Department assisted at the scene.
