NEW GLARUS - The second annual Green County Barn Quilt Day will be held Saturday, June 29.
Seating for the narrated bus tour is limited and reservations are required in advance. The cost is $12 and checks made payable to the Green County Barn Quilts can be sent to or dropped off at: Green County University of Wisconsin Extension, 2841 6th St., Monroe, WI 53566.
Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the New Glarus Elementary School and the bus will depart at 9:30 a.m. The tour will return to the school at about noon.
The tour will take participants to view more than a dozen quilts in the northern Green County area, with stories along the way about the quilt patterns, the farms and the farm families. The two and a half-hour tour will be led by Lynn Lokken and Kris Winkler, co-chairs of the Green County Barn Quilt project.
The tour includes two stops, one at the Sugar River Dairy where there will be yogurt samples served by Green County Dairy Queens and a "meet and greet" opportunity with owners Ron and Chris Paris; and the second at an outdoor quilt display at the Darlene Brewer farm, which also is home to four barn quilts. The barn quilts at the Darlene Brewer farm, W1876 Brooklyn-Albany Road, Brooklyn, is open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon.
