ATV fire may have been intentionally set

MONROE - A fire that destroyed an all-terrain vehicle on the city's west side Thursday morning is being investigated as a possible arson, Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said.

Officers saw flames at about 12:45 a.m. behind the United States Department of Agriculture building, 1627 4th Ave. West. Kelley said offers contacted the Monroe Fire Department and were able to control the fire. Firefighters arrived the scene to extinguish the fire.

The six-wheel ATV, which was owned by the U.S.D.A., received extensive damage. Nothing else was damaged in the fire. Kelley said the fire was suspicious and is being investigated as a possible arson.
