BRODHEAD - The third annual Wildflower Art Festival, part of the Brodhead Chamber's annual Covered Bridge Days, is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 in Veteran's Park, located next to the depot museum.

The event is a fine art show featuring artists from three states, displaying and selling their work. Media of all kinds, including painting, wood, glass, ceramics, fiber, jewelry, photography, graphics, and garden art, will be represented.

New artists this year include: Steve Schroeder of Waterloo, Iowa, who spends his spare time on riverbanks and lakeshores seeking stones for his jewelry; Robert Sjostrom from Rockford, Ill., who expose photographs onto clay; Sharon Christensen of Racine, whose watercolors feature many scenes from Green County; and Lynne Diebel and Jann Kalscheur, who photograph natural things shaped like letters of the alphabet and put them together to make words.

In addition to the art festival, the Wildflower Festival will celebrate Brodhead's many native plantings with a marshmallow roast at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at the log cabin across from the Memorial Public Library, followed by a native plant tour.

Other Covered Bridge Days activities include a car show, horse show, tractor pull, thresheree, vendors on the Square, food, music, the "Embrace the Race" pontoon boat rides on the mill race, and the regional "Little G" garden tractor expo.
