Summer Supper is Saturday

MONTICELLO -The Zwingli United Church of Christ will host a Summer Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, 416 E. Lake Ave.

The annual fundraiser is for the Women's Guild that funds many activities and missions of the church.

The menu will include brats, barbecue, baked beans, potato salad, fruit salad, deviled eggs, desserts and homemade pies. Lemonade, white or chocolate milk and coffee will be available. All menu items are priced a la carte.

Monroe

Sunday Breakfast Buffet returns

MONROE -The Second Sunday Breakfast Buffet will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 12 at the American Legion Club, 1627 12th Ave., Monroe.

The menu includes pancakes, French toast, eggs, hash browns, ham, sausage, muffins biscuits and gravy, juices, fruit cup and assorted sweets.

Prices are $6 for adults or $4 for children ages 3 to 10, and children under 3 eat free.

All proceeds benefit veteran's services, community services and scholarships.

Alzheimer's Awareness meeting slated for Tuesday

MONROE - First National Bank and Trust Company's Privilege Plus Club will host a meeting to discuss Alzheimer Awareness at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 in the Community Room at First National Bank, 1625 10th St.

Refreshments will be provided.

On Wednesday, Aug. 16, the club will host a trip to see the Chicago Cubs, as well as a trip to tour Lambeau Field on Thursday, Sept. 13. Those 55 and older are invited to attend to learn more about First National Bank's Privilege Plus Club. Meetings and day trips are open to club members and the general public.

Scholarship golf outing a success

LENA -The Scholarship Fund Golf outing in Lena and the banquet and silent auction at Village Inn in South Wayne recently raised more than $3,350 for the scholarship fund.

A total of 86 golfers registered. The money will go towards scholarship funds for Black Hawk student-athletes.

Event planners are looking at possible changes to future events, including moving the event to a date closer to the school year. A tentative date for future events is Saturday, Aug. 24, dependent on the Warriors football game.

Darlington

Lunch Bunch to meet Monday

DARLINGTON - The Lunch Bunch will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at the Lafayette County Courthouse, 626 Main St., Darlington.

Participants may bring their lunch during the informal hour. The topic of discussion will be on organic food and farming, presented by Bob Bernardoni, a local farmer and recently retired M.D. He will discuss what organic farming is, how available organic products are and the benefits of organic products.

The public is welcome to attend the informal, free session sponsored in part by Lafayette County Home and Community Education, UW-Extension and free-will donations.
