BRODHEAD - Three area middle schools received praise from State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster recently.
Belleville, Black Hawk and Brodhead middle schools each were named as Exemplary Middle Schools by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators' new Wisconsin Middle School of Excellence Award program. Of the 363 middle schools reviewed for the honor, 90 received certificates.
Schools that saw high growth in reading or math scores in the past school year; had reading or math scores in the top 10 percent in the past year; or had high growth in scores in reading or math for schools comprised of a high poverty population were invited to apply for the award of excellence.
