MONROE - Monroe's seventh annual "Great Strides: Cystic Fibrosis Walk" will be Saturday, May 18 at Twining Park.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the 1.2-mile walk kicks off at 11 a.m.
"Great Strides" is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fundraising event. May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that substantially impairs normal respiratory and digestive functions.
Monroe had 100 walkers last year and event planners are hoping to double the number this year.
"Anyone can make a difference by walking, donating, volunteering on walk day or asking your company to become a sponsor. Every little bit helps," said Rena Welty, chairman of Monroe's walk.
To sign up to walk or to donate, visit www.cff.org/great_strides. To mail a donation, send checks, made payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, to Welty, 2420 12th St., Monroe, WI 53566. For more information, contact Welty at 608-289-7135 or monroegreatstrides@yahoo.com.
