TOWN OF ELK GROVE - A 20-year-old man died Thursday morning from injuries he sustained Wednesday when a pickup truck rearended the Amish buggy he was driving south of Belmont.

Levi K. Kinsinger, of rural Platteville, was westbound in the 24000 block of Wisconsin 81 at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the collision occurred, according to a release from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.

Eugene C. Jenson, 29, Darlington, was driving the 2004 Chevrolet pickup that hit Kinsinger's buggy. Jenson reported no injuries.

Kinsinger was ejected from the buggy. He was taken by Belmont EMS to Southwest Health Center in Platteville, then later transferred to a Madison hospital.

Jenson may face charges related to the crash. The sheriff's department is referring the case to the District Attorney for review.

The department's preliminary investigation at the scene indicates alcohol was not a factor and the buggy's lights were lit at the time of the crash.

The crash severely injured the horse pulling the buggy, and the animal was euthanized by a veterinarian.

The pickup truck and buggy were both extensively damaged and towed from the scene.
