MONROE - The sale of Amcore Bank in Monroe and Argyle to First National Bank and Trust Company of Beloit has been finalized, according to a statement issued by Amcore Bank Friday.
The financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Steven M. Eldred, president and chief executive officer of First National Bank and Trust, said the sale means new opportunities for customers.
"For more than 127 years we've provided great service and sound advice to the state line," he said, in the statement. "Our goal is to help our customers succeed financially. We are proud to bring our brand of community banking to Monroe and Argyle."
Amcore Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William McManaman said First National Bank and Trust has a strong community banking philosophy and will continue to serve customers with high quality service.
Negotiations for First National Bank and Trust to purchase Amcore Bank began in August.
First National Bank and Trust Company has 11 locations in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
