JANESVILLE - A.M. Castle Metals is holding a two-day job fair to hire dozens of workers at a processing and warehouse facility the company plans to open in Janesville later this year, officials said.

Rhonda Suda, Executive Director of the Southwestern Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, confirmed Wednesday that the Rock County Job Center is hosting A.M. Castle's hiring event, which runs from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the job center at 1900 Center Ave. in Janesville.

Oak Brook, Illinois-based A.M. Castle last month announced its plans to bring warehousing and metal bar processing production into a 208,000 square-foot industrial facility a local developer is building on Enterprise Drive in Janesville.

The Rock County Economic Development Alliance this week circulated an announcement on the job fair this week, sending a blast of emails and a flyer to local municipal officials and chambers of commerce.

The announcement said A.M. Castle is looking to "ramp up" staffing at the new facility, which is slated to open sometime late this fall. The announcement said the company intends to "rapidly fill" as many as 60 positions.

The job fair flyer advertises warehouse operator positions at the Janesville facility. It lists starting pay at $16.50 per hour.

A.M. Castle reached a limited tax incentive deal with the city of Janesville linked to job creation. The company, as part of a corporate restructuring plan, is consolidating metal bar processing operations it runs in Franklin Park, Illinois and Minneapolis and relocating those operations to Janesville.

The company says it views Janesville as a centralized hub for processing and distributing metals in the Midwest. The company says it plans to have as many as 90 people working at the Janesville facility by the end of 2017.
