ALBANY - The Albany Historical Society general meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 17 at the Albany Historical Museum, 119 N. Water St.

The program, featuring Kara Blue, librarian from Albany's Albertson Memorial Library, will follow a short business meeting. Blue will speak on "Recollection Wisconsin," a website that includes displays and provides online access to digital copies of a variety of historical documents and artifacts shared by libraries, museums, historical societies and individuals from across the state, including postcards, maps, letters, diaries, books, artifacts and local histories. The site URL is recollectionwisconsin.org/.

The Albany library is considering a project that would digitize its own collection of local historical materials that may be shared on the "Recollection Wisconsin" website. Blue will share some of the features of the website, describe what it would take to embark on such a project and discuss the possibility of the library and historical society working together to digitize items from Albany's past. Blue also will survey interest from attendees about holding a workshop this year to teach society members to digitize personal photographs and documents using a scanner and computer.

The meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
