MONROE - Exempt and administrative staff in the Monroe school district will get a 1.46 percent wage increase for the 2014-15 school year, compared to last year's 2.06 percent increase. The school board unanimously approved the change at Monday's meeting.

The pay bump represents the maximum increase allowable under Act 10, as were the raises approved earlier this summer for teachers and support staff.

Exempt staff include supervisors that aren't administration and other employees not covered by the Monroe Education Association or the Monroe Association of Support Staff, such as the food service director and the buildings and grounds director.

The cost of the increase is $6,333 for exempt staff and $14,500 for administrative staff, for a total of $20,833, which is already accounted for in the 2014-15 budget.
