DARLINGTON — The Darlington Police Department made another arrest following a months long investigation into alleged sexual contacts between adult males in Darlington and underage girls, including one as young as 12.
To date, four men have been arrested in what is believed to be an isolated incident between a small group of men and a small group of girls they were acquainted with. All of the men have been formally charged by the Lafayette County District Attorney’s Office. Those who lacked proper documentation to be within the United States were also referred to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement department.
The most recent arrest occurred on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Ruben Hernandez-Alarcon, age 24, of Darlington, was arrested for repeated sexual assault of a child. He remains jailed pending court proceedings.
The names and information surrounding the other men who were arrested were provided in previous news releases: Javier Mora-Cervantes, age 48, Jose Noel Lopez-Ortiz, age 30, Brayan Armando Borjas-Velasquez, age 19 and Jose Argenis Hernandez-Hernandez, age 26.
